The Ardfallen Eye Clinic was set-up in November 2004 by Mr. Conall Hurley who had previously had his practice based in the Cork Clinic. He had initially come back to Ireland (having held an NHS Consultant post in the UK) and set up a Private Ophthalmic Surgical practice in April 2001.

Mr Hurley's practice is mainly a refractive surgery practice but a full Cataract, Corneal & Glaucoma service is also provided in parallel. The Ardfallen Eye Clinic is purpose built to accommodate all the most modern equipment required to provide a state of the art Ophthalmic Surgical service.

Mr Hurley also provided the equipment to set-up the Laser and Cataract unit at Shanakiel Hospital when the hospital was taken over by the Quality Healthcare Group in 2004. He has successfully treated nearly 2,000 patients with Laser surgery since his return to Cork. This spectrum of patients includes members of the Gardai, Fire-services, Army, professional sports people as well as other members of the public.

ACCREDITATIONS:

The Ardfallen Eye Clinic has a full time Practice Nurse, a Laser Technician and two job-sharing secretarial staff who work alongside the Consultant. It is a fully led Consultant service. The clinic is committed to providing the best and most up to date service as is possible with the most modern technology available worldwide. It has recently been chosen to participate in an international trial of two different Multi-focal intra-ocular implants as one of only 5 centres in the world.

A full range of Refractive surgical procedures are catered for at the clinic. This includes treatments for both distance and for near vision problems. The clinic strives to always keep pace with developments and improvements in technology. For this purpose Mr. Hurley regularly attends international conferences & courses to ensure that the most modern and safest treatments are available for clients of the clinic.

The clinic is designed to provide care to its patients in the most comfortable and friendly environment possible. All patient notes are electronic as this ensures the most efficient and secure method of tracking each individual patient's care path. The clinic prides itself in its effort to do the absolute best it can for each individual patient. It often provides contact details for previous patients to new patients early on in their care to assist them in making informed decisions with regards to their own case. In this way the results of the care provided by the clinic are able to "speak for themselves".
